Dr. Collin Diedrich is a post-doctoral associate at the University of Pittsburgh with previous experience as a post-doctoral associate at the University of Cape Town. His research focuses on how HIV changes the immunological response to M. tuberculosis. Collin has learning disabilities (reading disorder and learning disorder) and is actively trying to change the negative stigmas that many people associate with them.

Scientific Collaboration: One Researcher's Thoughts

The best science is performed by collaboration of researchers with different expertise. Although asking your collaboration network for help with a specific technique is encouraged, asking for help with writing can be frowned upon. Since writing is one of the most tedious aspects of the scientific process, I hope the stigma against asking for scientific collaborations can change.
