Research Square Company, Promotes Three PhDs to Top Executive Level Positions

AJE, provider of author services to researchers worldwide, is proud to announce the promotion of three longtime employees to executive positions.

Sarah Taylor, PhD, has been promoted to General Manager of AJE. She will have the primary responsibility of converting vision into execution across the company and all teams. She joined the company in 2010 and quickly rose to several supervisory and management positions. Dr. Taylor was most recently the Vice President of Operations. She received her PhD in Vascular Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Afton Thompson, PhD, has been promoted to Vice President of Operations for AJE. She joined the company in 2012, and her thoughtful and analytical approach to operations, team management, and workflows have helped to improve the AJE business. Having previously served as the Director of Premium Workflows, Dr. Thompson will now lead the full Operations division for AJE. She received her PhD in Immunology from Duke University.

April Troester, PhD, has been promoted to Vice President of Customer Service and will be responsible for cultivating a customer-focused culture throughout AJE. She will gather, synthesize, and disseminate customer feedback to improve the business. She joined the company in 2011 and built and leads AJE’s industry-leading customer service expertise and operations. Most recently her title was Director of Customer Support. Dr. Troester received her BS in Biochemistry from Bradley University and her PhD in Biochemistry from Duke University.

“We are really lucky to have three strong and talented leaders in Sarah, Afton, and April,” said Shashi Mudunuri, CEO and Founder of AJE’s parent company, Research Square. “All three are experienced scientists with PhDs, and all three have been important contributors in building AJE to what it has become thus far. I am fortunate to work alongside them. Sarah is an incredible execution partner, and in her new role overseeing execution across all of AJE, she will be able to use her abilities to help the business in an even bigger way. Afton has the ability to balance grace with clarity, which we will benefit from as she oversees our Operations. April brings a deep passion for helping our customers along with her drive to find answers and solve problems, which we will benefit greatly from with April overseeing our customer service.”
Amy Rawls, PhD, Director of Human Resources at Research Square says, “At Research Square and AJE, we grow our leaders from within the company by attracting great talent, cultivating a genuinely inspiring culture, and developing our people to reach their fullest potential. Sarah, Afton, and April have been leaders here since their very first day with AJE, and each has devoted herself to personal and professional excellence while driving key outcomes for our business. It has been a thrill to see each one of these exceptional leaders grow and achieve her career goals here, advancing herself along with our mission of making research communication faster, fairer, and more useful.”
